Jack’s Lemonade Stand
In 2007, doctors treating five-year old Jack at Sick Kids hospital in Toronto discovered a combination of dietary measures and medicine that significantly alleviated the effects of the intractable epilepsy, a severe disorder that he had been suffering from since he was one year old. Out of concern for other children suffering with debilitating illnesses, as well as due to their gratitude to the doctors, Jack, along with his parents, decided to start a fundraising initiative for the hospital.
Since 2007, Jack’s Lemonade Stand has raised over $70 000 for research, treatment, and patient care at Sick Kids. “The Stand” is now an annual event in May, and involves far more than the sale of yummy lemonade. SoChange is partnering with Jack’s Lemonade Stand in it’s 2009 campaign, in the hope of helping Jack build on his already outstanding fundraising success.
